Aava Story
Aava Finnovation
From Finland, the early epicenter for mobile phone innovation, 3 wireless technology veterans saw a global market opportunity for professional grade rugged computer tablets which are more durable than consumer models, yet not quite the costly bullet-proof units mandated by the world’s military and police forces. In 2009, they started Aava Mobile in Oulu, Finland to create a new category of durable mobile computing.
The Aava engineering team set out to develop the Inari family of ruggedized 8 and 10inch Windows tablets as well as 5 and 6inch handhelds along with add-on accessories and mounting options to serve the needs of numerous vertical market applications. Retail, restaurant, hospitality, logistics and field services were top of mind at the outset.
Aava’s “Finnovation” continued with the addition of two Android tablets of the corresponding size formats, but with a built-in CPoC contactless payment antenna for “tap‘n pay conveniently embedded on the screen front for ultra-fast transactions.
The Aava team continues to Finnovate creating new unattended devices for the growing self-service market along with perpetual enhancements to their existing professional products.
